do you plan to release this book under a free documentation license at any point?

I think Creative Commons by-sa-nc would be good enough.

I cannot promise anything, but I am trying to persuade my publisher to release the first edition under a free licence when the second edition is published (possibly with the release of etch). I will keep you posted, of course.
